NYX Stick Blush In “Pink Lotus”

Stick blush? It may sound like a funny concept to some, however I can tell you from personal experience that most stick and cream blushes that I’ve tried blend super well (minus the Maybelline “Dream Bouncy Blush” which I did not like at all). To be honest, I had tried several different stick blushes, but had never owned one of my own until I bought this little baby from the nearby ULTA store. “Pink Lotus” just happened to be the first NYX one that caught my eye, and I thought why not… it’s not like $5.99 was a lot to risk on a product.

Well, I didn’t even manage to make it out of the parking lot before swatching and instantly falling head over heels in love with it. Besides their simply adorable packaging and twist up tube, these blushes are amazing! Let’s just start by saying that Pink Lotus is a perfect medium pink tone that seems to blend effortlessly to give you just the perfect pink glow with a subtle hint of gold shimmer.

Not only does the color have quite the longevity and will last you usually anywhere between a good 6-10 hours, it also has such a creamy consistency when applied, and blends perfectly like I said before (sorry, I just still can’t get over how shocked I am by how well these blend!). These pocket sized blushes are perfect for on the go, and could easily come in handy for any emergency touch-up you may encounter during the day.

The upsides:

  • Creamy consistency, but not sticky or oily.
  • Perfect pigmentation.
  • Long lasting.
  • Cheap.
  • Pocket sized for easy transportation.

The downsides:

  • Availability- Can usually only be found at ULTA or online.

So I know I’ve said this before, but I officially have the best fiance ever! Not only does her know about and understand my passion and obsession with makeup, but he is also extremely supportive and interested. He can completely see and understand how it’s not only a form of expression for me, but also a form of art. He’s always been my little personal shopper and will see things (clothes, makeup, shoes, jewelry, etc.) in the store and either buy them for me if he thinks it would look good on me, or buy it if he knows that it’s already something that I love. I have to say that generally most of my high end makeup, he’s bought for me. He’s a pretty sweet guy, and I’m a very lucky girl. :)

Anyways, I haven’t been doing any haul photos lately since I’ve been so busy, but I just had to show you guys what I got last night. Courtesy of my madre, I got the Wet N Wild Comfort Zone Palette (we had 1 already), and then my boy found out that there was a killer deal on both the NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny ($1.92 each) and on the Wet N Wild Petal Pusher Palette (we also already had 1, but I wanted another) and went out and bought them for me at Winco last night after work. We bought the last four of the bronzers they had just because I love them so much and will go through them very quickly seeing as I can use them daily (even when I’m super pale in the winter time) because the color is so mild and has no shimmer. I’ve had Sunny in the past and it has always been my favorite, as well as all of the WNW palettes. :)

I’m working on getting a ton of photos, reviews, and other posts up within the next few days. Hopefully I’ll be able to get through most of them today, however being half asleep from working so much lately might limit me a little. In the meantime, if you’re a beauty blog following me, I’d love if you’d like this post so I can check out and follow your blog as well. Thanks everyone!

Betty-Lou Manizer (AKA “The Bronzing Bandit”)

The Balm came out with the “Oh So Pretty” kit (The Betty-Lou Manizer Bronzer, a mini Kabuki brush, the Hot Ticket Nail Polish in “Petunia”, and a Plump Your Pucker Lip Gloss in “Passion My Fruit”) quite a while ago, but I just recently picked one up and got to finally test it out. Instantly I fell in love with it and especially in love with the “Betty-Lou Manizer” bronzer. It’s another one of The Balm’s odd multi use products that can be used as a highlighting bronzer, or a shimmery shadow. It has a soft finish and has a long wear period that will stay with you throughout your day.

It can be applied very mildly or built upon for a super sun-kissed look. Because of the formula, it blends out super well, and it doesn’t contain any parabens or talc. It comes in an 0.3 oz. (8.5 g.) compact with a mirror. Because it is so pigmented, the color can easily become too dark on paler skin like mine, but if you apply only a little and are sure to buff it out, you should be fine. It’s your basic rich bronze color with a golden shimmer for illumination. Worn as an eye shadow, it can easily jazz up any look.

The upsides:

  • Can be worn both a bronzer and an eye shadow.
  • Very pigmented.
  • Due to size and pigmentation, it should last you quite a while.
  • Has a golden shimmer for illumination.
  • Very good longevity.
  • Silky finish.
  • No Parabens or Talc.

The downsides:

  • Not found in drug stores.
  • Can easily become too dark if you don’t control the amount during application and might need to be buffed out some.
